The rooks are back!

This is the third year we've had rooks nesting next door to us. Until today we thought they'd given up until all of a sudden we heard a racket. I said to Clare is that the rooks? And when she looked there were 3 pairs arguing over the nest.

By the time I got the camera sorted all the racket had calmed down with just one pair occasionally hassling the one's who'd claimed the nest. And then things calmed down further with a bit of preening and adding a stick to the nest.

Hopefully I'll get some footage of fledglings this year if they come before the tree is in full leaf.

Here's a little video...

A peerie leg stretch...

It's a pretty windy weekend in Shetland, but at least it's mild and dry. After a rough week I went for a bit of fresh air with my camera and a black and white theme in my head...

Not far though, just along West Shore and past the NAFC...

The Swan has a poly tunnel for a wheel house just now! Presumably some restoration needing cover, but it wasn't obvious on closer inspection what was being done.

A random mix of old and new...

Not long until these guys return now...

Enough to blow your cap off...

And the blog namesake getting a nice new coat for the year...

Clare's away in Unst for a lasses weekend, Beren's doing tweenager things, and I'm trying to be sensible still...

A family wander to Hamnavoe Light

I'm still not up to an awful lot in terms of getting out and about due to health (largely medication side effects), but I did the first of a monthly blog for work The Shetland Outdoors Blog. For that blog I'll be looking at our core paths in Shetland and other outdoors related things. I'll also be doing a short videos like this...

Anyway, being such a nice day we went for a wander out to the Hamnavoe light as a family. It got cut out in the editing of that video (not my editing), but it's a pretty rocky clamber to get there. Take your time and you'll be fine though...

The seals were enjoying the sun too...

The sea on the western coast was fairly wild with plenty of big waves breaking over the rocky coast. Even Beren enjoyed a brief sit to take it in...

The light. Another opportunity to sit and admire the scenery...

On the way back I was inspired to make a little rock sculpture. The Hamnavoe Hare!

Still 5 weeks until I get my cardiac scan, who know's how long until I get the results and a way forward, but I'll try to get a few posts on here.
