Still, sunny, snowy days

We've had some lovely still and snowy days of late. Today, the day after Up Helly Aa, is a public holiday so I went out for a walk to enjoy the stillness...

We didn't go to the procession last night. Shocking I know as it was a lovely evening, but I did get a phone video clip of the day time procession passing work...

I went for my early wander hoping to see otters...

 It was so nice out...

They're about and had been doing ottery things near their holt...

A dog walker I spoke to had seen them just earlier, but no such luck for me! I'll have another wander before dark. Did I say what an amazing still, sunny, snowy days it has been?!

So, I went out again with Clare before sunset...

And what did we see...

Sadly the conditions where it was to photograph it were pretty poor as you can see. But this nice neddie was very obliging!

And as went went home, it seemed a sea worth of ships and boats were going home...

Scalloway Fire Festival

Hmmf.... the lack of posting on here continues due to ill health, sorry about that. The knee is still mending and doing really well, but I've now other health concerns that are being investigated and stopping all play and making work difficult. Combine that with coming down with flu on Christmas eve and it's not been the start to 2019 that I was hoping for.

But the evening of Scalloway Fire Festival wasn't bad.

Being unwell since Christmas I just got a spot overlooking the burning site with Clare and Beren and got a few photos and some video of the burning.

What no head?!

Ah, there it is sadly floating away all on it's own...

There were some great fire works this year, good enough to almost over shadow the main event. I do like fire works!

Anyway here's a couple of minutes of video of the end of the procession and the galley burning for those of you who couldn't be there...
