Hawks Ness Broch

On the long headland that is Hawks Ness are the remains of Hawks Ness Broch. Unlike some brochs there's not a lot to see of the old structure, but it's a great vantage point to look over Nesting and back to Bressay.

I took the following panoramas with my phone and stitched the photos together so they're not great with some bendy bits, but I think they show what an interesting headland it is.

Looking out over Foraness Voe along Hawks Ness...

The headland is not far from Gott in Tingwall and accessed from the end of the road at Breiwick...

Approaching the broch...

It stands at top a small promontory and seems to have some earth works associated with it...

Looking back south...

It's not far to walk, though the ground is a bit wet in parts. In the past I've seen plenty of hares along here, but not today.
