Catching up...

Sorry for being a bit of a slacker of late on here, but there really hasn't been that much to report on with one thing and another.

Today however I got out to look at a new walk out west and in between the hail and sleet showers took a couple of photos for you...

Looking out over the Loch of Watsness towards Foula in the distance...

And looking out towards Foula through Trea Wick, but Foula's in the middle of a hail storm...

And The Loch of Goster which the new walk will go around...

The only other things of note have been getting in some road miles on Genny, my road bike...

I need to be able to manage 80km on the lumpy bumpy route of the Simmer Dim Sportive by 20th June. I've been getting up to mid 50's but it's a bit of a challenge. Still there's time to go yet. Lately the high point has been meeting a friend at Bonhoga Gallery to ride from there and return to a mug of coffee and a lovely cheese scone, yum!

Clare and Beren both have bikes now, so a little family ride has been nice when the weather allows. Not far, just a few miles, but that's more than enough for Beren for now...

Berry Road, Scalloway...

Ness of Westshore and Maa Ness, Scalloway...

Ooo.... and some lovely fish and chips at The Knab in yesterdays evening sun!

We go away soon for a 2 week car camping tour of the north west of Scotland. Orkney, Hoy, John O' Groats, Durness, Cape Wrath, Torridon, and the Cairngorms. So watch this space for some photos from our tour; assuming we don't freeze to death...

  1. We arrive on the South Boat on the morning of the 20th June. Are we likely to see lots of cyclists that day then? Have a good time camping. Hope the weather is kind to you all :)
