This and that...

Thankfully we've had some decent weather for my friend Alan visiting. One nice day was spent largely out on Lunna Ness watching some otters and also popping up to Hunter's Monument while we were there, some where I've never got round to walking up to before. It's a folly that was also used to look out for fish being landed 'illegally' rather than being landed for the Laird.

I even got a few decent aerial shots of it from my kite...

We popped in to quite a few places over the week he was here, a few walks on Burra and up north, including a pop in to look at the falls at Catfirth...

Have a look for the face in this one to the right of the falls...

Spooky...

We spent a bit of time up north on Sunday with lovely Soups and Sweets at Eshaness Hall before mooching around the coast near Hamnavoe where we found a live star fish...

And collected some limpets and winkles for Beren to eat, and eat them he did after they'd been cooked and then sautéed in garlic butter!

Today the forecast was due to change, but we managed a day on Bressay before the wind and rain started to build. On a nice walk out on Aith Ness to the WW1  guns we even managed to see an otter in the voe.

What a lovely day...

Sadly that was that for Alan, as with gales forecast and the north boat threatening either delays or cancellation we changed his ferry to go a day early, though I don't think his crossing tonight will be any picnic!
